Crayfish Carnival

In 1981 club members Laurel and Jack Hartley suggested the club organise an annual event known as “The Crayfish Carnival”, which they did, and to date this event becomes more successful every year.

At that time, Laurel was not only a competitor but was also involved in the Ladies Auxiliary. The Ladies Auxiliary at that time set a very high standard and this still continues today helping to make the Crayfish Carnival the success it is.

The “Crayfish Carnival” continues to be our major event for the year and is held over three days in the month of September. The event is one of the most prestigious Clay Target competitions in Australia. Apart from the event regularly attracting competitors from most clubs in Western Australia, at the same time competitors from other states attend as well as overseas competitors.

This event is a major boost to local businesses, airlines, vehicle hire companies and hospitality companies to mention a few. The strong support of local business houses is equally important to the ongoing success of this event.

Some of the organisations that support the club and the “ Crayfish Carnival” over many years are, ABC Financial Advisors Pty Ltd, City of Greater Geraldton, Westrac, Energy Power Systems, Twin Disc, Beretta Australia, Taylor Marine Winchester, MTU Detroit, Active Plumbing, Commonwealth Bank, Bailey’s Marine Fuels, Bhagwan Marine, Bankwest, Liberal Agriculture Team, Geraldton Independent Building Supplies, Fish Trade International, Kalbarri Motor Hotel

This is one of Australia's most prestigious Carnivals and travelling competitors will tell you that the hospitality and level of competition is hard to beat.

The Carnival is always held one week prior to the WA State Carnival which is usually towards the end of September and it is run over 3 days (Friday to Sunday).
